Father James Kubajak, “Fr. Jim” serves the community at Saint Michael the Archangel ByWP_20140914_004zantine Catholic Church in Oregon, Ohio. He’s a graduate of Loyola University, Chicago (Political Science) and the University of Saint Mary of the Lake – Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein, Illinois (Master of Divinity). He also attended Saints Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fr. Jim was ordained in 1977 at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, Parma, Ohio, by the Most Reverend Emil J. Mihalak. He served as pastor of Saint Mary Magdalene Byzantine Catholic Church, Fairview Park, Ohio, and in 1985 was transferred to Saint Michael Parish.

In addition to being pastor of the parish, Father is also Protopresbyter of the Great Lakes Protopresbyterate (Oregon, Ohio and all the Michigan parishes). The Protopresbyter’s responsibilities include looking out for the welfare of the clergy of his area and advising the Bishop regarding his area of responsibility.

Father Jim has served on the Eparchy of Parma Tribunal since May, 1977; he is currently Defender of the Bond and Promoter of Justice.

Father Jim has the honor to be a Magistral Chaplain of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and a Chaplain of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem. He is a member of the American College of Heraldry,  STARFLEET International and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoys photography.
